Today, I thought about shutting out the news and events of the day. Why have a sad day?
I was going to cook just for myself a roast, potatoes, and so on and eat like a hog complete with cake and ice cream. I spent the day alone at first.
Then I got a call from my son, his wife, and their beautiful baby girl! She is a little over a year and a half old and took the phone from him and took me on a happy romp! It was like a crazy gopro outing with her making happy noises and words and seeing everything as she juggled around with the phone and seeing weird angles of her, the floor, and anything else she encountered. One of the very best rides of my life!! Maybe the best.
I wasn’t alone at all. My loved ones live in me actively and are always present. I am blessed.
I lost my soul mate at age 24 and he still lives every day. He was young, kind, Christian and beautiful! His face and smile made sunlight. The brightest I’d ever seen. He once used his last dollar to buy a stranger’s kid a Coke and sit down with him to talk him into going home with his Mom and not running away.
The boy hugged his distraught mother and left with her. I think of that child from Hardee’s back in 1990 and wonder how he is. I saw him help so many.
I changed my mind and joined the world in mourning Charlie Kirk. I thought it would be too hard for a 58th birthday but it was exactly what I needed. I never cooked, ate, or doubted I had made the right choice.
Life is a gift every moment.
