So some of you may know I had a trash can fire in my room a few days ago, attributed to cats chewing on the damn vacuum cord like a Hellmas Work-study. Watch for that.
Fired up under the plastic trash can, melted it’s contents into the floor. I had run the cord out the door to continue my rare push of giving a shite about the carpet finding itself dirty and headed down the hall.
A few minutes later, there was a weird smoke smell rising. I ran to the stove (was oven cooking) but all was well. I turned around, and down the hall I saw thick smoke coming from my room! It was gray…dark gray.
Rushed in, holy shit it’s over 2 feet tall shooting upwards…right below clothes hanging on the door! Can’t pick it up, kick it over so w t f?
Fortunately, I tend to stay calm in actual emergencies, so in one move I flung the clothes from the overhang, wrestled two cats the Hell out of my way and grabbed the jug of water I keep in my room. It was like a John Wick flying attachment!
In the end, another half jug and it was smoldering….whole house full of smoke…but no flame. Stayed up to watch for smoldering…while venting the house.
Today, I saw it had burned the solid wood on my dresser, and realized how quickly it could have all been different.
Still recovering from the sinus issues, but they pale in the face of what if…
Feeling lucky….
